The SR20DET is a Nissan engine, part of their SR family of engines. It has four cylinders, and is fitted into a variety of cars, such as the Nissan 180SX and the Nissan Silvia, as well as the PUlsar GTI-R, Nissan Bluebird and Nissan NX Coupe. It was a replacement for the CA18, an engine that was too expensive to produce and didn’t meet emission standards in Japan.

The name indicates that it’s an SR engine with a 2.0 liter displacement, a dual overhead camshaft (D), with electronic fuel injection (E) and a turbocharger (T). It produces between 201 and 247 horsepower, depending on the turbo that’s included. Nowadays, there is a variety of SR20DET engine for sale. The reason is simple – there’s a host of forced induction aftermarket additions, which makes engine swaps with an SR20DET engine a very attractive option for JDM fans.
